Although this phase was coined almost 100 years ago, nothing could be more true today. This speaks to the heart of recycling& repurposing.
I recently found inspiration for our next house project, finishing the risers & treads on our stairs, that speaks volumes to turning trash into treasure.
Joanne Palmisano's amazing blog, Salvage Secrets, (& very cool book with the same title) shows a stair where salvaged tiles, both whole & broken, have been used to tile the risers.
With the help of my 6 & 8 year old artists in residence (& every day inspiration) we chose and assortment of tiles that include: 2x2, 2x8, 4x4, 6x6 & 6x8, and along with some leftover 3x6 from our shower project, we were set with enough tile for our 11 risers. Did I mention we got all this tile for just $12? Thank you, ReBUILD VT.
