The wishlist this family had for an addition included: a much needed mudroom, a 3 car garage, a place for the mower & 4 wheeler, and room for expansion as their children grew up. A major stumbling block for the client was the existing (& relatively useless) attached, single story shotgun garage. The final design took some cues from the connected farm landscape of 19th century northern New England that is typical in this New Hampshire coastal town. By incorporating the existing garage and playing off the the ideas of a big house, little house back house, back house, barn, we gave the clients everything they wanted & more.
